Whakapai Hauora have a vegetable garden with about 15 raised garden beds that they started about 5 years ago, when they saw a need in their community. They grow a variety of vegetables that they distribute among their clients wherever they see a need, or which are available in their foyer from time to time. The gardens are used in conjunction with their Marae programme, during which children stay on the Marae and are taught planting, nutrition, and are encouraged in the tradition of food as koha. They will also source and donate seafood for cases of berevement.
Whakapai Haoura (Best Care) Manawatu is a centre for holistic health, which incorporates general practitioners, and services such as breast screening, Maori disability support, mobile nurse, mental health and addiction services, cancer coordinator services, child wellness, massage, and contraception consultation and advice. They also hold nutrition courses from time to time.
